How to get the most of your travel pictures…
So you experienced a great trip, uploaded your photos to your computer, you started the process of selecting the good ones and after some editing you got some awesome photos, that really captured your experience and the atmosphere…
But what now? Most of the time maybe you shared some or your pictures with family and friends, via Direct Messaging or Social Media, but be honest, the majority of your great images ended just on your harddrive.
Of course there is nothing wrong with storing your images on your drive, every photographer shouid have at least two copies of every picture he had taken. But after so many shoots, months, years the pictures are piling up on your drive and for the most of us, you very rarely look at old pictures from trips or photoshoots years or sometimes month ago… and thats wrong. These are your memories, the fruit or your labor, maybe the reason why you took a specific trip, and now they ended up as just one of thousands of files.
There a pretty simple solution, but also a very important one:
PRINT YOUR PHOTOS!
Showing pictures of your travel experiences or adventures on your phone or computer screen is not bad, but nothing beats having a print on your wall or a photobook with your own images. The feeling of having your own framed picture or a good photobook of your images on your coffeetable, is something else. Not only gives it a feel of accomplshment, it keeps your memories alive. A constant reminder of what you have done and experienced or how much work, went into a specific shot. It is also much easier and much cooler to share your work with family and friends via prints or photobooks.
So, not only do i have some framed pictures on my walls, i stared creating and printing photobooks of each of my photo trips like Rome, Hallstatt, Venice and so on. I use a huge hardcover format, 42cm x 28 cm with around 40 to 100 pages per book. They are huge, heavy and not cheap but of incredible quality. Of course you don’t have to go this big, but creating photobooks of your trips, is the best way to keep your memories alive and re-experiencing your adventure, whenever you like.
Its so much fun picking them up and scroll to pages of your own pictures, so just do it.
Your memories deserve to be treated this way! :)
